What are your favorite spots in Potsdam / Berlin / the surrounding area?

The surroundings of Potsdam city, the Brandenburg State Parliament, the river, and the nearby park fascinate me a lot.

What are the places and moments that make you feel at home here?

Brandenburger Tor and Alexanderplatz remind me of public spaces in Nepal, where events take place, festive markets are set up, and people come to hang out. When I go there, I remember my days in my homeland.

Tell us about your degree program. How did you become interested in your field of study? Any favorite classes?

I am enrolled in the Master’s program in National and International Administration and Policy. The course is interdisciplinary, covering various aspects of political science, economics, public administration, and public policy. I chose this program because I want to develop a strong perspective on public management and policy, as they are experienced worldwide. My favorite classes are Public Sector Reform and Fiscal Governance.

What differences have you noticed in the academic culture between Potsdam and your home country?

It is completely different here. The University of Potsdam has a huge advantage from a student’s perspective, as the courses encourage deeper understanding and broaden knowledge rather than focusing only on examinations based on a fixed syllabus. The opportunity to learn from renowned professors is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Your studies are in English – what about your German skills?

I have completed my B1 level in German and plan to reach C1 within a year.

What has been the most surprising thing about Germany for you?

The systematic way of living and social interaction. Whenever I need help, people always try their best to assist. I also appreciate how people here encourage and support those who possess talent and skills.

Do you like to travel? Can you share a fun travel moment? And where would you like to travel next?

I have visited many famous places in Berlin and Potsdam, including the Brandenburg Gate, the Bundestag, Museum Island, and Potsdam as a whole, which I find incredibly rich in culture and history. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it all is! My next plan is to visit Munich, another marvelous city in Germany.

Your future plans:

I plan to continue my studies while taking advantage of various internship opportunities. After my third semester, I will start preparing for my PhD. Additionally, I aim to socialize through university events to build a global network of students studying at our university.
