Welcome to the Saalfrank Group

It is with great sorrow that we have to announce that our colleague and friend, 
Rainer Neumann, passed away July 12th, 2026, at the age of 69, after short but serious illness.

Rainer worked as system administrator in our group, officially since 2010.
Educated as a Theoretical Chemist, he not only excelled as IT admin but was also continuously involved in research projects of the group. Beyond his
official tasks, he also conceptualized and taught own courses, for instance on IT for future chemistry teachers.  Being practically irreplaceable in his job, his contract was extended twice beyond the regular retirement age.

He had always an open office and a smile and gave valuable advice, in scientific questions, IT-related issues, and even personal affairs. He was a problem solver. And he was founder and frontman of the famous "TC band", which strengthened bonds not only in our group but also beyond.

Rainer leaves behind his wife, a son, a daughter, and two grandchildren.
Our thoughts and deep sympathies are with Rainer's family.
