Finally (Financial Literacy in der Grundbildung Erwachsener)
The overarching goal of the project focuses, within a life-phase-spanning perspective, on the action-oriented promotion of financial literacy in adult basic education. The guiding research questions are: With which innovative learning materials and methods can adults with basic education needs be (mutually) supported in building financial literacy in various learning settings, and what qualification offers do teachers in basic education as well as advisors at consumer centers require to further educate themselves in the area of financial literacy in adult basic education?
Based on the competency model "Financial Basic Education" (CurVe Project 2015), the initial thematic approach addresses everyday consumer decisions and is then further developed according to the needs of the target group. The focus of the consortium partner PH Weingarten lies on the target group-specific characteristics of people with low literacy.
The following outcomes are aimed for:
- Identification of everyday consumer decisions of people with low literacy.
- Identification of challenges faced by people with low literacy regarding learning with digital media.
- Consideration of these challenges in the development of digital teaching and learning materials.
- Derivation of conclusions for teacher professionalization and for advisors at consumer centers.
The results are useful for literacy and basic education practice and contribute to supporting people with low literacy in everyday consumer decisions and enabling a responsible approach to finance-related processes.
On a methodological level, experiences with people with low literacy are reflected upon and systematically processed within the evaluation processes.
