Award for heating energy savings by the Hydrology and Climatology Working Group

The University of Potsdam generates over 45% of its CO2 emissions through heating – the largest item after flight emissions. To reduce these emissions, a competition was held again last winter. Forty-four departments covering almost 20,000 m² took part, including the Hydrology and Climatology Working Group. Together, we achieved an efficiency increase of almost 40,000 kWh with the 2024/2025 heating energy saving bonus. This reduction corresponds to over 8 tonnes of CO2 – roughly the amount that 500 trees can absorb on average per year.

Many thanks to everyone involved for their commitment!
