Doctoral Studies
The Faculty of Science of the University of Potsdam awards the academic title 'Doctor of Natural Science' ('doctor rerum naturalium' or 'Dr. rer. nat.') or Doctor of Engineering (Dr.-Ing.) following an examination process whereby a candidate shows their scientific capability and competence by way of a written thesis (Dissertation) and an oral defense (Disputation) in a scientific discipline represented in research and teaching by a Professor of the Faculty.
