Program Archive International Summer Campus

The ISCO can look back upon a long success story in designing all kinds of different courses. Our international partners chose the University of Potsdam with its manifold research landscape to have their students complete a hihgly specialized and customized program, and at the same time get to know the country and its people. Two factors have always been crucial in these decisions:

  • the jointly developed and well-tailored course program exactly fitting the requirements of the sender institutions and
  • the careful and intensive support and supervision of all participants by the coUP team.

To give you a better impression, we would like to invite you to learn more about selected programs on the following pages. They illustrate our versatility concerning content and participants‘ profiles and help you get a more detailed picture of our services.

Europe and Germany

In 2012 and 2013, students from the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Peking visited the University of Potsdam for a summer course dealing with the topics `Europe and Germany‘. The umbrella topic centered around politics and economics in Europe and especially in Germany. The innovative course program was designed in cooperation with our instructors and aimed at combining the background knowledge presented in lectures and seminars with practical workshops and discussions at the actual scenes of events.

Visits to start-up companies, as well as workshops at large German companies in Berlin and a Design Thinking workshop at the Hasso-Plattner-Institut (HPI) at the campus Griebnitzsee, were all part of the course. During their stay the students were accommodated in dormitories of the Potsdam Student Services which enabled them to get
to know other international and German students.

Potsdam Spring Program

This program was integrated into the Education Abroad Program of the University of California (UC) and took place at the University of Potsdam from 2005 to 2013. It connected intensive German language teaching with academic seminars on literature, history, politics and culture. These courses were part of the course catalogue of the UC, and for this program the participants received the respective credit points. The program took place over the summer semester with a workload of 15 weeks and about 16 contact hours per week.

During this time the participants lived in Potsdam student dormitories. They were also regularly enrolled UP students enjoying the many advantages offered for students at the University of Potsdam - like the semester ticket for Berlin & Brandenburg. A total of 130 students of the UC have taken part the program over the years. The extensive academic part was complemented with several excursions - for example to Dresden, Hamburg and Weimar.
