Deutsch(land)kurs Willkommen Fall

Learning by doing is the motto of our German course - trial-and-error, quite normal and absolutely desirable.

Therefore, only German is spoken and written in this course. In this way, hour after hour you will internalize more of the pronunciation of the words and letters, as well as much of the structure of the German language. This should make it easier for you to deal with your new everyday and teaching language.

Survival Training Germany

• Getting to know the country and its people through various media
• Intercultural training (Create awareness for values and attitudes of other language communities; work with stereotypes)
•  Fit for everyday life - communicative approach (focus on topics and structures relevant to everyday life)

German for studying

• Simulation of authentic lecture or lecture situations and reproduction of what is heard
• Creation of transcripts
• Reading comprehension of first scientific texts
• Raising awareness for the linguistic means of written science communication (quoting, paraphrasing, etc.)
• Developing an understanding for scientific language structures

Current topics and student interests

The interests and needs of our participants are important to us. Therefore, we are happy to incorporate current topics and our participants' interests into the course.

Examples from past courses:

• Interpretation and performance of German songs
• Excursion into German literature
• Refresher/intensive practice of specific grammatical topics
• Phonetics exercises

Intensity and scope of the above introduced topics, depend on the respective language level.

• 6 contact hours per day (1 unit equals 45 minutes)
• 8 days of classes from Tuesday to Friday
• 48 contact hours (plus homework, self-study and excursions)
• Course times: 9:00 am - 03:00 om
• ECTS achievable: 3

• PC, laptop or tablet
•  Stable internet connection
• E-learning platform: Moodle (You will get access from us.)
• External headset for better audio quality (recommended)
• For any virtual formats: Software Zoom (Video/Audio)

The course fee is € 295,00 (including placement test, course material, city tours, certificate of completion).

Students will arrange for their own accommodation during the course at extra cost. The following options are available:

a) Accommodation in a student dorm

International exchange and program students (e.g. Erasmus+) can apply for a room in a student dorm provided by the Studierendenwerk West: Brandenburg. Course participants will be able to move in to their room at the beginning of the course.

Registration deadlines: July 15 (winter semester) / January 15 (summer semester)

b) Dormitory place through the International Office placement service

By registering with the International Office, exchange students receive priority on the waiting list for dormitory rooms.  These rooms are allocated according to internal guidelines and the allocation guidelines of the Studierendenwerk West: Brandenburg as well as the "first-come-first-served" principle. The date of receipt of the service fee counts.
