Research Interests

My research focuses on chamber development of the endocardium, a specialized endothelium that is lining the interior of the heart and that responds to biomechanical stimuli exerted by blood flow through activation of specific gene expression programs. I investigate endocardial development in context with the surrounding myocardium and the underlying mechanical forces. Zebrafish as a model system allows me to use a highly flexible combination of genetic tools, fluorescence reporter-based transgenic lines with genetic fate-mapping strategies and RNAseq based techniques in vivo.
