Our Motivation
Citizen participation in public interest processes is gaining more and more attention. Central to this is the desire for an open and transparent society in which no data monopolies are created, because to everyone same opportunities are offered. This requires that public authorities and institutions create and maintain a standardised access point (API) to the collected data. The complexity of this concern becomes clear when one considers the multitude of disciplines that deal with the topic. Here is a small extract:
- OpenGovernment (OpenGoverment-Plan Norwegen)
- OpenScience (Open Science: One Term, Five Schools of Thought)
- OpenData (Open Data Portal Berlin, Southampton)
- OpenAccess (Springer Nature Open Access Portal)
- OpenSource (Betriebssystem Linux)
- OpenScience (Open Science: One Term, Five Schools of Thought)
This is where we would like to join in with the hackathon "Open Data - Open University". The aim of this fast-moving form of work is to create and work on scenarios in which open data from the UP can be used to solve everyday problems. There are no limits to creativity in the implementation of problem solving: web apps, mobile apps, programmes, dashboard components, etc. can be created that process the data from the interfaces of the challenges and make it accessible for users.
