Thematic Field School

This field school is a collaborative initiative between the University of Rennes and the University of Potsdam, supported financially by the Franco-German University (DFH/UFA). It will take place from 28 September to 7 October 2026, in the Pyrenees in France and Spain. Start and end point of the field school is in Toulouse (France).

Objectives:

The aim of this course is to integrate and apply concepts from Geosciences, covering topics such as tectonics, sedimentology, mineralogy, and geological resources, in the field. Through hands-on exploration, students will conduct observations, measurements and analyses to reconstruct the region’s geological history and examine the interactions between tectonics and natural resources.

Field observations will be further analyzed and discussed in follow-up lectures and seminars from November to January, with oral presentations and group discussions.
