Dr. Alexander Wentker ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Universität Potsdam (Lehrstuhl für Öffentliches Recht, Prof. Dr. Andreas Zimmermann) und Habilitand sowie wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Lehrstuhl für Öffentliches Recht, Prof. Dr. Christian Marxsen). Er ist Inhaber eines Postdoc Network Brandenburg Fellowship des Landesministeriums für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kultur. Nach dem Studium der Rechtswissenschaft an der Universität Potsdam, der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (1. Juristische Prüfung, 2016) und der Université Paris II – Panthéon-Assas (Maîtr. en droit, 2016), erwarb er im Jahr 2017 an der University of Oxford einen Magister Juris und wurde im Jahr 2022 ebendort promoviert. Seine Dissertation „Party Status to Armed Conflict in International Law“ ist im Jahr 2024 bei Oxford University Press erschienen und mit mehreren Preisen ausgezeichnet worden. 2024 legte er die Zweite Juristische Prüfung am Kammergericht ab. Seit 2018 ist er – mit Unterbrechung – am Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches öffentliches Recht und Völkerrecht in Heidelberg beschäftigt, zunächst als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter, seit 2022 als Referent. Er ist Schriftleiter der ZaöRV für Rezensionen, Associate Fellow des Thinktanks Chatham House (The Royal Institute of International Affairs, London), Mitglied des Early Career Researcher Committee der European Society of International Law und Gründungs- und Vorstandsmitglied der Max Planck Law Initiative „Security and Law“.
Dr Alexander Wentker is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Potsdam (Chair of Public Law, Prof. Dr. Andreas Zimmermann) and at Humboldt University Berlin (Chair of Public Law, Prof. Dr. Christian Marxsen). In 2024, he passed the Second State Examination at the Higher Regional Court of Berlin. Since 2018 (with an interruption), he has been employed at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, initially as a research fellow and, since 2022, as a senior research fellow. He is the book review editor of the Heidelberg Journal of International Law, an associate fellow with Chatham House (The Royal Institute of International Affairs, London), a member of the Early Career Researcher Committee of the European Society of International Law, and a founding and board member of the Max Planck Law Initiative ‘Security and Law’
