Detailed Information about Dormitories

Facilities

All dormitory rooms are equipped according to the general standard set by the Studentenwerk Potsdam. This basic equipment of furniture includes a bed, a closet, a book shelf, a desk, and (sometimes) a separate fridge. Only the kitchen and bathrooms will in some cases be shared with others.

The following items are not included:

• bedclothes
• tableware
• towels

Bedding

Bedding will be provided. You only need to bring bedclothes for the duvet and pillow.

Check in & out

Please note, that the day of arrival to your course will be the first day on which you can check into your dorm room. Therefore, you will have to pick up the key to your room from your course provider on the arrival day between 10 am and 5 pm. On the day of departure (usualle the last course day), the check out will usually be from 2-3 pm. Please book your tickets accordingly.

Internet in the dorms

Using of the internet in your dormitory room during the Summer Courses is free of charge.

Notice:

• Most dormitories have a fixed telephone network (landline). Therefore you have to find out the MAC address (physical address) of your computer. Instructions on how to find it, you get on WikiHow. After the clearing of your account, you just need an Ethernet network cable and you will have access to the internet right away! Unfortunately you cannot use tablets or smartphones in your dorm.
• Should there be WiFi at your dormitory, you will have to download the program VPN client. Here, you will find the instructions for installation: Windows 7 | Mac OS

Shopping Facilities

No matter which dormitory you will stay at, there will be at least one supermarket nearby and easy to reach. Here, you will find a map of supermarkets in Potsdam.
