Funded: Five Outstanding Postdocs at the University of Potsdam

The federal government of Brandenburg honors nine outstanding post-doctoral researchers within the framework of the Postdoc Network Brandenburg. Five of them will conduct their research at the University of Potsdam.

The federal government of Brandenburg honors nine outstanding post-doctoral researchers. The national and international top level researchers are supposed to strengthen the science sector in the year to come. Five of them will conduct their research at the University of Potsdam. All nine researchers will receive funding amounting to 600,000 EUR in total as part of the Postdoc Network Brandenburg.

Funding is awarded for the fields of law, languages, and biology . The Hungarian cognitive scientist Dr. Enikő Ladányi will implement her project “The Causal Role of Musical Rhythm Processing and Inhibition in Grammar Development.” Dr. Lorina Buhr from Utrecht conducts research on the topic “Losing Ice and Water – An Empirically Informed Social and Political-Theoretical Inquiry.” Dr. Alexander Wentker will work on “Digital Security in Public Law – Cyber Attacks on International Organizations” in Potsdam. Dr. Vaderament-Alexe Nchiozem-Ngnitedem from Cameroon will implement his project “Design, Synthesis, Biological Activity and Mechanism of Antibiotic Agents from Millettia Plants.” And Dr. Maximilian Hepach, who received his doctorate from the University of Cambridge, will conduct his research on “Climate Phenomenology – The Bodily and Affective Experiences of Climate (Change)”.

In addition to research opportunities, the national and international postdocs will receive access to professional courses and coaching offers to develop their skills. The "Brandenburg Network for the Career Development of Postdoctoral Researchers" – "Postdoc Network Brandenburg" for short – was founded in 2018 by the four universities in Brandenburg. The aim of the federal state-wide cooperation is to attract top level researchers to Brandenburg and retain them in the state.
