In its 308th session, the Senate of the University of Potsdam elected Dr. Britta van Kempen as Vice President for Teaching and Studies. “Despite the tragic circumstances, I am very pleased to have quickly found a worthy successor for Prof. Musil in Dr. van Kempen. Her extensive relevant knowledge and experience will greatly advance the University in the coming years. As a woman and a representative of the academic staff, Britta van Kempen also contributes to an increase in diversity in the administration, which I very much welcome,” said the President of the University of Potsdam, Prof. Oliver Günther, Ph.D. Britta van Kempen succeeds Prof. Dr. Andreas Musil, who passed away on June 17, 2022, after a serious illness.

Dr. van Kempen joined the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Potsdam in July 2009 as an advisor to the Dean of Studies. Since October 2018, she has been an advisor to the Vice President for Teaching and Studies. “I will face new challenges and continue developing programs set in motion by Andreas Musil. Above all, I would like to continue, in Dr. Musil’s spirit, the lively exchange with all status groups and the constructive teamwork in the area of teaching and studies,” emphasized the unanimously elected Vice President Dr. van Kempen. She has been elected for a term of three years.
