The Pamir and Central Asia: I work on Paleozoic to Cenozoic units of the North Pamir and develop a holistic understanding of its evolution. For this purpose I did extensive field work and sampling. I use zircon, calcite and rutile LA-ICP-MS U/Pb dating together with LA-ICP-MS chemistry and whole rock geochemistry.
The Eastern Alps: Here I focus on the late Mesozoic to Cenosoic exhumation history of the Niedere Tauern unit and adjacent tectonic units. The exhumation of the Niedere Tauern is closely linked to the doming of the Tauern Window. For this purpose I use traditional thermochronology (apatite and zircon fission track and (U-Th-Sm)/He dating) and thermal history modelling with HeFTy.
Thermochronological data is complemented by DEM analysis in TOPO Toolbox, extensive field work and structural data.
