As part of the Master's degree program in Digital Education, students have the option to complete either an internship or a semester abroad. Both options offer the opportunity to apply and deepen the knowledge and skills acquired during the program.
The internship is undertaken in a professional context related to digitalization — for example, at a research institute, university, or other relevant institutions (e.g., museum, state institute, foundation, the education department of a company, or a publisher of educational media or textbooks). It lasts four months or 720 hours in the case of full-time employment and comprises 27 credit points (CP) (+ 3 CP for the preparatory course).

Alternatively, students may choose to spend a semester abroad at a partner university. There, they must complete coursework amounting to at least 24 credit points, documented in a Transcript of Records. At least 15 CP must be thematically aligned with the content of the Potsdam degree program; the remaining 9 CP may cover other areas (e.g., language courses). In addition to the completed courses (totalling 24 CP), students must submit a 20-page final report (3 CP).
