Potsdam, May 26, 2025

During a SUNY COIL community webinar on May 21, 2025, COIL Ambassadors were honored for their commitment to Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) at their respective institutions. As a member of the SUNY COIL Global Network, the University of Potsdam received an invitation addressed to the COIL Coordinator to nominate a dedicated teacher who is particularly committed to the implementation and dissemination of COIL.

Dr David James Prickett from the Centre for Languages and Key Competencies (Zessko) was nominated and awarded for the first round of the ambassadors programme from among the many committed teachers who are driving forward the internationalization of teaching at the University of Potsdam. David Prickett has been integrating COIL into his courses since the 2016/17 winter semester and has been providing students with international and intercultural learning experiences every semester since the 2019 summer semester through his cooperation with Beit Berl College in Israel. (1, 2, 3) Since then, six other lecturers at the Zessko have followed his example. (1, 2, 3, 4,, 5)

The SUNY COIL Global Network is a community of practice that was founded in the early 2000s and which more than 220 higher education institutions have joined. They are dedicated to promoting Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and the associated benefits for higher education.
