CEPA Policy Lecture #7: Working as economist at the Finance Ministry

Dr. Fabian Joas works as Policy Advisor in the Department I (Economic and fiscal policy strategy) at the Federal Ministry of Finance. From 2010–2014, he worked at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and from 2016–2020, he was senior associate at Agora Energiewende.

Economics provides tools and methods for analyzing and evaluating policy measures that focus on important social, political and economic problems. Still, there is often a perceived gap between academic analyses and the political reality. The Policy Lecture there- fore seeks to bring together high-level policymakers and policy advisors with researchers and advanced students in the field of economic and environmental policy.
