Phase 2: Research and Plan
The aim of the second stage is to research what and how students can learn in relation to your research question and lesson topic. You should then plan and prepare the research lesson.
Research and Plan
HINTS
- To save time, research tasks can be distributed. It should be discussed beforehand who will do what and how the results will be shared.
- It can be helpful to use familiar materials and sources and then gradually add new materials.
- It can be useful to think in terms of a sequence rather than a single lesson.
- Which pupils are particularly interesting in relation to the research question? The teacher who knows and teaches the class is often in a good position to select the children to be observed.
- It is helpful for the observation to collectively think about indicators that can be used to identify high quality and purposeful learning activities in the planned lesson. This list of indicators can support the systematic interpretation of learning - both during the observation and during the evaluation session.
