Completion of the first Lesson Study process
Going through a complete Lesson Study process is an intense experience and should be celebrated and valued! It is also important to reflect regularly on the lessons learned in order to derive lasting benefits from Lesson Study. It is up to each team to decide when to do this. The following questions might be helpful:
Individual reflection on your own learning process:
- What did you learn about the research question and the lesson topic?
- What did you learn about the students' thinking and learning?
- What did you learn about teaching?
- How can you use this new knowledge in your future lesson planning?
- How can you use this new knowledge in your daily work at school?
Reflect together on the learning process:
- Did the Lesson Study process raise new questions about your pupils' learning and thinking processes that you would like to explore as a team?
- Do you have new ideas for implementing your research topic that you would like to try out as a team?
- What elements of your learning process would you like to share with other teachers and school staff?
