Evidence Based Policy Consulting in Germany

We are very happy to welcome Prof. Dr. Andreas Peichl, Director of the ifo Center for Macroeconomics and Surveys and Professor of Macroeconomics and Public Finance at the University of Munich, to our Policy Lecture on "Evidence Based Policy Consulting in Germany".

Moderator of the lecture is Prof. Dr. Matthias Kalkuhl (MCC Berlin and CEPA, University of Potsdam).

About the Policy Lecture:

Economics provides tools and methods for analyzing and evaluating policy measures that focus on important social, political and economic problems. Still, there is often a perceived gap between academic analyses and the political reality. The Policy Lecture therefore seeks to bring together high-level policymakers and policy advisors with researchers and advanced students in the field of economic and environmental policy.

The key objectives of the Policy Lecture are:

  • Understand how policymakers view economic research
  • Understand how research can have an impact and why research also fails to have an impact
  • Engage in discussions with high-level policy makers and policy advisors
  • Identify personal career options in the science-policy interface

The Policy Lecture is open to all Master students, PhD Students and researchers at the University of Potsdam and our partner institutions in the Potsdam-Berlin area (MCC Berlin, PIK, DIW, BSE). Master students of the Economic Policy and Quantitative Methods (EPQM) Master program are esecially invited to participate.
