COST Action IS1207 Conference “Local Public Sector Reforms in Times of Crisis: National Trajectories and International Comparisons” (in Cooperation with the PCPM and KWI) – 15./16. May 2014
On May 15./16., the 3rd general conference of the COST Action IS1207 on Local Public Sector Reforms will take place at the University of Potsdam, campus Griebnitzsee. The conference is part of the EU funded research project on local public sector reforms, led by Prof. Dr. Sabine Kuhlmann. It will be co-organized by the Potsdam Center for Policy and Management (PCPM) and the Institute of Local Government Studies of the University of Potsdam (KWI). Up to now, over 120 researchers from 31 different countries have confirmed their participation.
The COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) Action IS1207 “Local Public Sector Reforms: An International Comparison (‘LocRef’)” is an EU-funded international research network on local public sector reforms with more than 200 senior and early stage researchers in 29 countries. Based on a shared European perspective, it brings together researchers and practitioners of all stages of local public sector reforms in order to jointly assess the hitherto scattered and dispersed information bases on local public sector reforms, to generate new comparative knowledge, and develop policy-relevant frameworks for the design of future modernization processes in Europe. Networking activities of LocRef include inter alia international workshops and conferences, PhD training schools, high level seminars, short term scientific missions (research stays for scholars in partner institutions), joint publications and policy papers. The Action also provides an excellent platform for promoting the careers of young and early stage researchers.
