Junior Fulbright Lecturership in American Studies
Starting in 2009/2010 a Junior Fulbright Lecturership in American Studies will be established at the University of Potsdam. This new special grant is meant as an opportunity for younger aspiring American Studies scholars in the US (about 3-5 years beyond the PhD or at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank) and comes as a result of a new cooperation between the University of Potsdam and the Fulbright program in order to enhance the strong American Studies Program in Potsdam.
ELIGIBILITY
Scholars in the field of American Studies, including social science, American history, culture, literature and related fields with a solid teaching (and research) record are invited to apply.

- U.S. citizenship
- A high level of academic achievement
- Recognized teaching experience
DESCRIPTION
The Potsdam - Junior Fulbright Lectureship in American Studies is a new initiative by the University of Potsdam and the Fulbright Commission to create an interesting position for a younger career oriented American scholar seeking international experience and willing to share American Scholarship and teaching methods.
The position will allow the recipient to teach two to three advanced courses (a maximum of 6 teaching hours per week) and use the research facilities of the host university and neighboring institutions.

NUMBER OF GRANTS
One grant is available during each academic year. The preference is for an academic year grant (equals two teaching semesters) but a one-semester award beginning either September 2009 or March 2010 will also be considered.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE & DEADLINES
The application deadline is August 1 for grants beginning in September of the following year.
