NEWS | ZIM Contributions at the AI Week of FU Berlin

Under the headline "AI Qualify," the "AI Week" took place at Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) from March 3rd to March 7th, 2025.

The AI Week, titled "AI Qualify," was organized as a professional development opportunity for the application of artificial intelligence in higher education, targeting a nationwide audience of university staff, including educators, staff from service departments, and students. The AI Week offered a week-long platform to engage with early adopters, experts, and educators to collectively explore the opportunities of AI in the educational sector. More than 1,200 participants attended 12 events of the qualification series. The Center for IT and Media Management (ZIM) at the University of Potsdam had the opportunity to actively contribute to 3 of the 12 events.

Together with Jeelka Reinhardt and Max Koch from FUB, Alexander Schulz from ZIM at UP inaugurated the AI Week with the presentation "From Data to AI Literacy." Dr. Tobias Halbherr from ETH Zurich and Alexander Schulz discussed the disruptive impacts of AI and the future design of university examinations in the "Future Talk: Examinations in the AI Era." Alexander Schulz, alongside Jeelka Reinhardt and Miriam Chrosch from FUB, led the workshop "AI on Hold - Perspectives for Competent AI Engagement in Higher Education Teaching." The workshop focused on the question of which conditions need to be implemented in university organizations to be robustly prepared for future dynamically disruptive developments along the lines of AI advancement.
