In the night of January 19-20, 2026, red and green auroras could be seen in the sky above Potsdam and Brandenburg. This natural spectacle is rarely observed in our latitudes. The reason for this was a geomagnetic solar storm.
Astrophysicists of the University of Potsdam took the pictures on January 19, 2026, at around 11 p.m. with an SLR camera. All images are licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
