The Digital Humanities Network at the University of Potsdam, in cooperation with the Potsdam Graduate School (POGS), is offering again a Digital Humanities early-career fellowship programme in the winter semester 2026/2027. The aim of the program is to provide PhD candidates and Master's students with a hands-on introduction to digital methods in the humanities.

Who can participate?

Up to 10 PhD candidates and Master's students at the University of Potsdam with little or no prior experience in Digital Humanities. Applicants should be pursuing a project (dissertation/master's thesis/etc.) that could potentially benefit from the use of digital methods. Applications from the Faculty of Arts are especially welcome.

How do I apply and how does the selection process work?

Below you will find a form that you can fill out to apply by 31 August 2026. At the end of September there will be a first selection round by the DH Network board. If places are still available afterwards, further selection rounds will take place every two weeks.

When, where, how?

  • First meeting: 16 October 2026
  • Frequency: Every three weeks, Fridays 9-12
    • Planned meetings: 16.10 / 06.11 / 27.11 / 18.12 / 08.01 / 29.01 / (19.02?)

  • Language: English or German (tbd, depending on participants)

What is it about?

The program offers a practical introduction to digital methods in the humanities. Key topics include:

  • The effective use of digital tools in humanities research
  • Insights into how to embed computer-assisted methods into one's own workflows
  • Acquisition of methodological skills in a digital context

Conclusion

The program ends with a joint participation to the DHd 2027 conference in Marburg, which will take place from March 1 to March 5, 2027. Travel expenses are expected to be covered by POGS and the DH Network (further information to follow).
