Overview

We understand "American Culture and Literature" as an interdisciplinary research and teaching project. In cooperation with our partners in Germany and the United States we have developed a number of focal areas. Among these are: Arab-American Studies, Cultures in/of Mobility, Cultural Constructions of Age, Hemispheric American Studies (with particular emphasis on the oceanic spaces of the Caribbean, the Atlantic, and the Pacific), Cultures of Contagion, Security Narratives, the study of U.S. Imperialism, and the Theory of American Studies.

The "American Culture and Literature" section is also part of the Master's Program "Anglophone Modernities" and the Graduate School "Minor Cosmopolitanisms".
