Welcome to the webpage of the Anglistik & Amerikanistik student council! We are very happy that you are here and hope that we can help you with any questions and matters you come to us with. We do our best to provide you with up-to-date information concerning your studies at the Institut Anglistik/Amerikanistik and help you out with whatever problems and issues you might be facing. 

But what exactly is the student council and 
how can you make use of it and enrich your studies?

As the student council (in German: Fachschaftsrat), our members get elected on a yearly basis to represent the whole student body of English and American Studies in a variety of ways in the university. Most importantly, we act as intermediaries between students and the institute when things get a little tricky. This means that your voice is heard, no matter how small the concern may be. Speaking of which, we might occasionally ask for your participation in administrative processes, such as revisions of your study programmes and similarly crucial topics.

Our scope of action does not stop there: In the last couple of years, we have hosted many events that offer an excellent opportunity to connect with one another. Traditionally, we host quiz nights and cozy movie screenings in the lecture halls. Although both are currently on hold, they will return during the winter semester. Another feature that you can look forward to is our annual winter stroll through the surroundings of Neues Palais with a bottle of warm mulled wine. The highlights of each semester are a large Christmas Party as well as a Summer Party in the outdoors. There may be an event missing here - why not come and tell us at one of our weekly meetings?
