Background:

As one of the largest economic sectors, the health industry has a special significance for Brandenburg. Almost 100,000 people carry out their professional activities in this sector in Brandenburg. At the same time, the digitalisation of the healthcare sector is progressing at an ever faster pace, driven by federal initiatives such as the Hospital Futures Act (KHZG) or the Telematics Infrastructure (TI). The Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy of the State of Brandenburg (MWAE) has recognised the potential of digitalisation for the regional economy and has launched the project "digital solutions made in Brandenburg | digisolBB" for this purpose, among others.

Main research question:

How can the development and testing of digital business models for the healthcare market in the Brandenburg region be optimally promoted?

The main research question investigates:

The interdisciplinary consortium of the University of Potsdam, the Hasso Plattner Institute and the Institute for Innovation + Technology of the VDI/VDE is developing and testing a mentoring programme to support innovative companies, providers and research institutions in the development and testing of digital business models for the healthcare market of tomorrow.

Research objective:

The aim of the project is to develop viable digital health products, services or solutions together with innovative players from the region and to test them in the region. They should establish themselves on the health market in the long term or open up new, complementary market segments through networking with other clusters and sectors.
