Multilingualism concept for Brandenburg

Statement from Multilingualism-Related Research and Teaching at the Brandenburg Universities

We very much welcome the fact that the state of Brandenburg wants to shape and expand its multilingual potential and has launched a "multilingualism concept" for this purpose (Drucksache 7/3204) (PDf 171KB).

However, it remains unclear and irritating why the universities of the state, namely the University of Potsdam and the European University Viadrina, are not included in the concept development despite the impressive resources that these two institutions have in the field of applied and also regionally related multilingualism research.

In a position paper, academics involved in multilingualism-related research and teaching at Brandenburg's universities plead for the active inclusion of the two universities as scientifically and infrastructurally proven and established partners in the completion and future implementation of the multilingualism concept for Brandenburg.
