Position CRC1644/B11 – PhD student Sauer group
The successful candidate will work 26 hours per week (65%), employed at the University of Potsdam. The position is classified within remuneration group 13 of the collective wage agreement among the German states (TV-L). The earliest possible starting date is 1 April 2024 and the position is limited until 31 December 2027. The fixed term of employment is in accordance with Section 2 subsection 1 of the German Act on Limited Scientific Contracts (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz or WissZeitVG).
Your field of work:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates to join our research team as PhD student in the interdisciplinary field of plant molecular biology, plasticity, and computational image analysis. Ideal candidates should possess a strong background in biological sciences, particularly in plant molecular biology, with a keen interest in exploring the mechanisms of plant plasticity. Applicants with a demonstrated aptitude for interdisciplinary research, critical thinking, and a passion for advancing scientific knowledge in this field are encouraged to apply. Your responsibilities:
- employ both wet lab techniques and computational approaches
- determine the molecular basis of plasticity of root hair traits to environmental resources
- test the differences in root hair plasticity under certain environmental conditions
Results from your work on this project should form the basis for your doctorate/PhD.

Prior specialization in plant sciences is helpful, but not required. Practical knowledge in any of the following areas is desirable:
- cell biology
- molecular biology
