Annual Retreat

 

Once a year, all members of CRC 1644 come together for a two-day retreat. The event brings PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and principal investigators from all six partner institutions to a shared location outside of their everyday working environments.

The retreat serves a dual purpose. Scientifically, it is an opportunity for in-depth exchange across projects and research clusters – a space where ideas that would not emerge in regular seminars or project meetings have room to develop. Organisationally, it strengthens the cohesion of a geographically distributed consortium.

A particular emphasis is placed on early career researchers: the retreat gives PhD students and postdocs dedicated time to present their work, receive feedback from the broader consortium, and connect with colleagues beyond their home institution.
