Outreach – Engaging Society and the Scientific Community
Our CRC 1644 is committed to sharing its research beyond the lab – both with the general public and within the scientific community.
Public Outreach and Science Communication
One of our key goals is to make complex plant science engaging and accessible for a broad audience. We regularly participate in events such as the Potsdam Science Day and the Children’s University (Kinderuni), where we invite children, families, and curious minds to explore our research through interactive experiences.
Through hands-on activities like LEGO® workshops, creative experiments, and engaging science talks, we explain how plants respond to environmental factors like heat and cold. These activities introduce the core topic of our centre – phenotypic plasticity, the ability of plants to adjust their form and function in response to environmental conditions
Scientific Exchange and Collaboration
Our CRC 1644 contributes to professional exchange through events such as the IBB Science Day and by organizing our own CRC 1644 International Conference to bring together researchers working on phenotypic plasticity.
Our research spans molecular biology, plant physiology, ecology, bioinformatics, and modeling – and benefits from interdisciplinary dialogue. To support this exchange, we also share updates, publications, and insights into our work on platforms like Instagram and Bluesky, where we connect with the broader scientific community.
