International Conference on Phenotypic Plasticity in Plants

Phenotypic plasticity is a fundamental feature of life – and a field that is rapidly gaining scientific attention as we seek to understand how organisms respond to changing environments. To bring together the international research community around this topic, CRC 1644 organises the PhenPlasPlants conference series.

The conference provides a platform for researchers across disciplines – from molecular biology and quantitative genetics to computational modelling and evolutionary biology – to exchange ideas, present results, and forge new collaborations. Alongside keynote speakers, PhD students and postdocs are at the heart of the scientific programme: they are invited to present their work in talks and poster sessions, gaining experience in scientific communication and receiving feedback from an international audience. It is designed to go beyond the boundaries of the CRC: by welcoming scientists from institutions worldwide, PhenPlasPlants positions Potsdam as an international hub for plasticity research.

A core element of the conference is the central role of early career researchers. PhD students and postdocs from CRC 1644 are actively involved in the organisation and help shape the scientific programme. This gives them invaluable experience in scientific community building and expands their professional networks at an early stage in their careers.
