The 'X-Teach-VR' project (in association with RWTH Aachen University) starts on September 1st, 2022

The aim of the project is the use of virtual reality to integrate the promotion of media and media-supported communication skills into teacher training. In order to support prospective teachers in developing the skills of their future students, a relevant section of the media and foreign language skills model of the Conference of Ministers of Education will be integrated into the existing "VR classroom". Potential lies in the confrontation with utterances in the learner's language, in practicing work assignments in the foreign language and in switching between German, French and English. The teaching of media and language skills are relevant across subjects. The VR environment is characterized by the flexibility and controllability of the training, a protected space for practicing and the repeatability of the scenarios. Thus, both the interdisciplinary teaching of media competence and the integrated computer science and foreign language teaching are addressed. The virtual rooms are enriched with new 3D elements as a realistic, virtual, media-supported specialist room and then piloted by the project partners. On this basis, further cooperation in interdisciplinary teaching will be possible in the future.
