Digital Language Learning

The Digital Language Learning project

The Digital Language Learning project aims at contributing to improve and refine existing digital tools for foreign language learning and use, as well as at proposing new directions for future development in the field of Mobile Assisted Language Learning based on qualitative and quantitative research. We focus on detecting the needs of specific groups of learners and finding ways to address and implement those needs in digital solutions. The project has established collaborations with Langenscheidt Digital and Babbel. With Langenscheidt Digital we have employed the Design Thinking method to develop a product prototype: a collaborative L2 learning platform for older adults intended as a mobile app. We are currently collecting feedback data on the prototype from a group of older adults. The collaboration with Babbel, on the other hand, aims at evaluating the effectiveness of the app for learning English as a foreign language at an advanced age.
