Das von der DFG mit knapp 600.000 € geförderte Projekt RECOLAGE (Leitung: Prof. Dr. Schlangen) wird mit der Besetzung der letzen offenen Stelle zum 01.07.2020 in voller Kraft beginnen.
In dem Projekt geht es um die automatische Generierung dynamischer sprachlicher Anweisungen aus bildlichem Material, wobei also Methoden aus zwei zentralen Bereichen der künstlichen Intelligenz, computer vision und natural language processing, verbunden werden. "Als Fernziel des Projektes kann man sich eine Anwendung vorstellen, bei der ein Assistent im Smartphone einem Benutzer helfen kann, nach einer IKEA-Bauanleitung Schritt für Schritt ein Möbelstück zusammenzusetzen", so Prof. Schlangen.

The RECOLAGE project, which is funded by the DFG with almost 600.000 € (Head: Prof. Dr. Schlangen), will begin in full force when the last vacancy is filled on 01. June 2020.
The project is concerned with the automatic generation of dynamic linguistic instructions from pictorial material. Therefore, methods from two central areas of artificial intelligence, computer vision and natural language processing, will be combined. "As a long-term goal of the project, one can imagine an application in which an assistant in the smartphone can help a user to assemble a piece of furniture step by step according to an IKEA building instruction," says Prof. Schlangen.
