The MOSAiC polar expedition, the WHO’s COVID-19 information portal, materials of the future, and the digital learning platform Schul-Cloud—originating from the still young University of Potsdam are not only key scientific insights, but also practical applications that are essential for our society. Die Polarexpedition MOSAiC, das Covid 19-Informations-Portal der WHO, Materialien der Zukunft, die digitale Lernplattform Schul-Cloud – aus der noch jungen Universität Potsdam gehen nicht nur wesentliche Erkenntnisse sondern auch für unsere Gesellschaft notwendige, praktische Anwendungen hervor. Die Universität Potsdam ist die größte Universität Brandenburgs und mit der Vielzahl außeruniversitärer Institute eine der am dichtesten besiedelten Forschungslandschaften Deutschlands.

Synergien zu nutzen, liegt auf der Hand. Viele private und insitutionelle Förderer sind bereits überzeugt: Die Hasso Plattner Stiftung finanziert die Digital Engineering Fakultät, Friede Springer lobt seit 2015 den Voltaire-Preis für Toleranz, Völkerverständigung und Respekt vor Differenz aus.
