Registration and Admission to the Doctoral Program
To be eligible to apply, you must have completed a university degree with at least 300 credit points (typically a master’s degree), a Staatsexamen or one of the previous German degrees Diplom and Magister (requiring at least eight mandatory semesters) in your intended field of study.
You can register for your doctoral program through the doctoral database. In the final step of the database process, you can download the declaration of intent to pursue a doctoral degree (Anzeige der Promotionsabsicht) and the Doctoral Agreement. Both documents must be signed (in the case of the Doctoral Agreement, also by your supervisors). Submit these documents, along with all documentation of your academic background (high school diploma, bachelor’s and master’s degrees), to the Ph.D. management (see office hours above).
Once you have submitted your application, admission typically takes no longer than two weeks. Once you have been admitted, you may voluntarily enroll as a doctoral student. Please use PULS to do so.
