Curriculum Vitae

Since April 2021, Tom Drechsel writes his PhD-Thesis about the history of Mozambican labour migrants in the GDR and unified Germany at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena and the University of Potsdam. From 2022 to 2025 the thesis was funded by the Heinrich Böll Foundation, since August 2025 it is funded by the Ettersberg Foundation.

Tom Drechsel also works as a political educator in schools in Berlin. In the past, he has worked for the Berlin Wall Foundation and as a German teacher for refugees.
