Curriculum Vitae
Romain Tiquet is a historian specializing in modern African history, particularly West Africa. He received his doctorate in African Studies from Humboldt University in Berlin.
His dissertation dealt with forced labor and social control in colonial and postcolonial Senegal. He is currently a researcher at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and a member of the Institut des Mondes Africains (IMAF) in Paris. Between 2022 and 2025, he was a researcher at the Centre Marc Bloch (CNRS long-term mobility).
His research examines the history of forced labor, police practices, and marginality, contributing to comparative and local approaches to decolonization and social order in West Africa. Since 2020, he has been the principal investigator of the ERC Starting Grant MaDAf “Governing Madness in Africa.”
