The Roving Group captures the spatial variability of soil moisture across large areas and along transects but faces the challenge of generating reliable data, given the spatial heterogeneity of soil and vegetation.
The CRNS rover uses the same detection principle as the stationary probes but deploys multiple and larger detectors to achieve higher count rates at shorter record periods. It's a mobile, high-resolution CRNS.
