Affiliated Event: Re-serch: A Workshop Exploring the Notion of Research as Theory, Practice, and Identitiy

In January 2025, Potsdam Postcolonial Studies Collective Member Marcia Schenck and Morgan Robinson convened the workshop “Re-search: A Workshop Exploring the Notion of Research as Theory, Practice, and Identity.” The event brought together scholars who combined expertise in the study of African histories with an interest in exploring the notion of research in a broad sense. The guiding questions of the discussions were: who is a researcher and what constitutes research? How does the researcher interact with the archive and/or the field, and how are these spaces delineated? How has our understanding of research and the researcher changed over time?
