The Faculty of Human Sciences was founded in 1994 and is organised in accordance with the current development plans of the University of Potsdam in the Cognitive Sciences and the Educational Sciences structural units. These units represent both Science & Research (research foci) as well as Study & Teaching (departments). The Outpatient Clinic was established as a medical facillity under the responsibility of the Faculty of Human Sciences in November 2007. The Faculty hosts also the Potsdam Research Institute for Multilinguaism, which is funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation since October 2011. Currently the German Research Foundation has granted the Collaborative Research Centre 1287 "Limits of Variability in Language: Cognitive, Grammatical and Social Aspects". The faculty is located at the the Golm and Neues Palais campuses of the University of Potsdam. The Research Focus Cognitive Science is closely connected to the intra-faculty unit Cognitive Sciences.
