Neurocognition of Language

The Neurocognition of Language Group at the University of Potsdam is an interdisciplinary team of Psychologists, Linguists, and Neuroscientists. We investigate higher cognitive functions, their development and plasticity, and the respective underlying cerebral mechanisms. Specifically the group intends to characterize (1) the cerebral mechanisms of language from basic acoustic processing to complex sentence processing, and (2) the development of higher cognitive functions across different age groups and different populations by (3) combining behavioral, psychophysiological (eye-tracking), neurophysiological (electroencephalography, EEG), and neurovascular (functional magnetic resonance imaging, fMRI; Near Infrared Spectroscopy, NIRS) methods.
