Institute for Social-Ecological Research (ISOE): Research Unit Water and Land Use & Research Unit Biodiversity and People

Within the NamTip project, ISOE aims at a profound understanding of the social dimensions of tipping point dynamics by focusing on the interfaces between farmers and the savanna they manage as pasture land from a social-ecological perspective. This includes conceptual, empirical, and analytical work. It involves examining knowledge bases, management practices and technologies, as well as relevant institutions and socio-political conditions. The focus is on freehold farmers. Through knowledge transfer, the integration of local knowledge into the NamTip project, as well as the dissemination of project results into practical applications, are ensured.
