Tim Westermann

"My research interests focus particularly on the interaction between wild animals and their environment – both how animals shape their habitats and how ecological conditions influence their behaviour and distribution. My focus is on large terrestrial herbivores. Using ecological modelling, I aim to investigate how human influences – such as habitat fragmentation or land use changes – limit wildlife populations and what management measures can counteract this. At the same time, I am fascinated by how ecosystem engineers shape landscapes and control ecological processes through their activities. With my research, I want to contribute to protecting these fascinating animals and their habitats, as well as gaining new insights and developing methods in the field of ecological modelling."
