Call for Abstracts "Youth in a Digital Society" 2026

Digital media have become an integral part of children’s and adolescents’ everyday lives. They shape how young people spend their time, interact with others, and access and engage with information. As such, digital media use has the potential to influence both psychological outcomes (e.g., mental health) and sociopolitical outcomes (e.g., trust in democratic institutions).

At the same time, digital media should not be understood solely as a source of risk. They also provide important opportunities for learning, social connection, and participation. Increasing evidence suggests that the effects of digital media use are not uniform, but depend on how, in which contexts, and by whom digital media are used. Consequently, interventions aimed at fostering digital media literacy or preventing problematic media use need to be sensitive to individual differences and contextual factors.

We invite submissions for poster presentations at the inaugural “Youth in a Digital Society” conference. We welcome empirical and theoretical contributions that address the role of digital media in young people’s lives from interdisciplinary perspectives.

The poster session will take place on October 8, 2026, and will offer ample opportunity for exchange and discussion with conference participants.
