Zoe Maurer

Research

Zoe Maurer is a member of the ERC-funded research project STATE-DNA, which investigates the causes of structural changes in government organizations and their effects on the formulation of government policy. In particular, she focuses on the role of ministries in executive legislative processes in a cross-country comparison.

In the DFG project FISCAP (Building Fiscal Capacity), Zoe Maurer and her team are researching the role of West German administrative assistance in building strong financial administrations in East Germany, with a particular focus on organizational principles (personnel structures, routines) and their impact on the performance of tax offices.

Short biography

Zoe Maurer studied political science at the University of Bremen (Bachelor of Arts) from 2016 to 2020. She then completed a Master's degree in Political Science at the University of Bielefeld and the University of Potsdam. During her studies, she already worked as a research assistant at the Research Center on Inequality and Social Policy (University of Bremen), as well as at the Center for Quality Development and Teaching (ZfQ) and supported the research project FISCAP (Building Fiscal Capacity) at the Chair of Politics and Governance in Germany. Zoe Maurer has been a research assistant and doctoral candidate at the Chair since May 2024. She is also a member of the research project STATE-DNA.
