How Can Diversity in the Classroom Become a Strength?
In the MuDiRe project, we will explore this question between January 2026 and December 2030 and develop innovative teaching approaches that consider students’ multidimensional diversity as a resource for collaborative learning.
Our goal is to improve educational and participation opportunities, strengthen social inclusion and promote democratic values in school.
We focus on a conceptual framework concept for cooperative learning in lower secondary education combining digital and analog learning formats meaningfully. On this basis, diversity-sensitive teaching series that promote both subject-specific and interdisciplinary skills will be developed and scientifically evaluated.
Through close collaboration between academia, schools and educational practice, the project contributes to inclusive, effective and future-oriented learning environments.
What and Who is MuDiRe?
MuDiRe stands for ‘Multidimensional Diversity as a Resource for Cooperative Learning in Digital and Analog Spaces’ – and that is precisely what our program in teaching development and research is all about.
We are researchers at the University of Potsdam from the departments of School Development (project lead), Empirical Research on Instruction and Schools, Media Education, and Educational and Socialization Theory, who want to improve instruction in schools utilizing our different academic perspectives.
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education, Family, Seniors, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ, funding code: 01JV2406, funding line ‘Dealing with diversity – designing teaching that is diversity-sensitive and effective for learning’).
